Thinking of having your Greek wedding in Santorini?

Sugar-cube buildings, cobalt blue skies, wonderful food, outstanding hospitality, boat trips around the Caldera… No wonder Santorini is top of so many couples’ wish lists when it comes to planning their Greek wedding. And Santorini is without doubt a beautiful and welcoming place.

But it’s also quite pricey. And if you visit at certain times of the year, it can be very busy too. So before you make your final decision, let us tell you about some less well-known, but equally beautiful destinations, which could become the perfect venue for your Greek wedding.

Kimolos

Wedding in Greece Kimolos Olive Hearts

One of the most beautiful of the Cycladic islands, Kimolos is a quiet haven where you can enjoy peaceful beaches and dazzling landscapes. This is a place you come for total tranquillity and serenity, friendly tavernas and restaurants – and a truly romantic location for your big day.

Folegandros

A small hop and a skip from Santorini, you’ll find the unspoiled paradise of Folegandros. At just 32km squared, it boasts 18 beaches and has less than 1,000 full-time residents. The stone-paved streets of the capital, Chora, take you past many tavernas. And from the top of Panagia Rock, you can see out over the blissful blue Aegean Sea.

Ithaca

The stunning island of Ithaca lies to the east of Kafalonia – and was reputed to be the home of Odysseus. Part of the Ionian islands, its emerald waters and lush greenery will make you feel nothing short of total peace and relaxation. Way off the normal tourist map, Ithaca is full of beautiful surprises for you to discover.

Milos

A volcanic island in the Cyclades, Milos is an unforgettable destination. Its beaches are stunningly beautiful, its rock formations other-worldly – and its seas are an inviting deep blue. Imagine your wedding photographs with a backdrop of colourful fishing villages – or sun-kissed sands.

Athens Riviera

Just a short journey outside of the Greek capital lies a 60km stretch of some of the most chilled and relaxing beaches you will ever visit. From Piraeus, through Palaio Faliro, Glyfada, Voula, Vouliagmeni, Varkiza, Lagonossi, Saronida and Anavyssos, you can experience beach and sea, just a stone’s throw from Athens.
